I make each piece by hand in my Los Angeles studio. A curve may be a little fuller, the spacing between flowers may shift, or a glaze may pool more deeply around a carved detail. These variations are part of the work. You’ll find dimensions in the description of each piece, and glaze colors may look slightly different on screen.

Lift it with both hands, supporting the ceramic body from underneath. Stoneware is durable in everyday use, but a knock against a hard surface can chip a rim or a raised detail. The underside can also be rough on furniture. Set your piece down gently, lift it when moving it, and use adhesive felt pads under the base if it sits on a delicate surface.
-
Gather vessels are designed with dried stems in mind if you want to fill the entire piece with most freedom. Some finishes can hold water for fresh flowers. Check the description of your particular vessel before adding water. For a water-safe sphere, keep the waterline below the lowest side opening and place fresh stems through the top so their cut ends reach the water.

Follow the voltage and maximum bulb wattage specified for your lamp. The Nocturne specifies which bulb to use so that it fits well within the piece. If you’re unsure which bulb to buy, reach out and I can help.
-
Switch the lamp off and unplug it. Check the two retaining rings at the base of the socket. If either is loose, gently hand-tighten it while keeping the socket from turning. If the socket itself turns or still feels loose, leave the lamp unplugged and reach out so I can help.

Timing depends on the piece and my firing schedule. The lead time is specified int he listing. Please allow for both studio time and shipping. If you’re ordering for a gift or an installation or need it rushed, send me the piece name, delivery ZIP or postal code, and the date you need it before placing your order. I can let you know what’s possible.

Please get in touch as soon as you unpack it. Include your order number and clear photos of the damage, the whole piece, the outer box, and the interior packing materials. Hold on to the box and all packaging while we work through the next steps.

Reach out before placing an order to inquire about return eligibility. Made-to-order pieces are generally final sale. Once you place your order, I set aside studio time to shape, glaze, and fire your piece by hand. If you’re unsure about the size, finish, or color, I’m happy to talk it through with you before you order.
If your piece arrives damaged or you notice a defect, please reach out with your order number and a few photos so I can help.

I’d love to see where your lamp lives or what you’ve arranged in your vessel. Tag @ariellakirschbaumceramics on Instagram so I can see it.
